Topologies generated by ideals
A topological space X is said to be generated by an ideal I if for all A ⊆ X and all x ∈ A there is E ⊆ A in I such that x ∈ E, and is said to be weakly generated by I if whenever a subset A of X contains E for every E ⊆ A with E ∈ I, then A itself is closed. An important class of examples are the so called weakly discretely generated spaces (which include sequential, scattered and compact Haus...
متن کاملToric Ideals Generated by Circuits
Let IA be the toric ideal of a homogeneous normal configuration A ⊂ Z . We prove that IA is generated by circuits if and only if each unbalanced circuit of IA has a “connector” which is a linear combination of circuits with a square-free term. In particular if each circuit of IA with non-square-free terms is balanced, then IA is generated by circuits. As a consequence we prove that the toric id...
متن کاملIdeals Generated by Exponential-Polynomials
In several problems in Harmonic Analysis, .and in Number Theory as well, lemmas on small values of holomorphic functions play an important role. Let us give first an example from Harmonic Analysis. distributions with compact support in 17% " whose Fourier transforms satisfy, in C " , a lower estimate of the form (0.2) with v, ,..., v, also distributions with compact support 131, 33). In many ex...
متن کاملIdeals generated by superstandard tableaux
We investigate products J of ideals of “row initial” minors in the polynomial ring K [X ] defined by a generic m × n-matrix. The defining “shape” of J determines a set of “row initial” standard bitableaux that we call superstandard. They form a Gröbner basis of J , and J has a linear minimal free resolution. These results are used to derive a new generating set for the Grothendieck group of fin...
متن کاملThe Covering Numbers of Mycielski Ideals Are All Equal
The Mycielski ideal Mk is defined to consist of all sets A ⊆ k such that {f ↾ X : f ∈ A} 6= k for all X ∈ [ω]0 . It will be shown that the covering numbers for these ideals are all equal. However, the covering numbers of the closely associated Ros lanowski ideals will be shown to be consistently different.
